Kennel Size Matters
One of the most frequently asked questions we get here at Animal Land is: “What is the right size kennel for my pet?”
A great start is to use the image we’ve provided with the following legend.
A = Length of animal from nose to root of tail.
B = Height from ground to elbow joint.
C = Width across shoulders.
D = Height of animal from the ground to the top of the head in a natural standing position. It is also helpful to get the measurement to the ear tip.
Several airlines require at least 3 more inches per kennel dimension (length, width and height) than your pet’s measurements. We recommend that you allow for at least an inch to an inch-and-a-half more. Check with us and the airline for kennel specifications. We also suggest you take your pet into PetSmart or Petco to try out a few kennels.
We highly recommend the kennel pictured – from PetSmart. It’s ventilated on all four sides and screw shut. You can view the various sizes here (http://www.petsmart.com/product/index.jsp?productId=3196957).
